Playing a P.A.R.T. in Tire Safety

When you get into your car in the morning, late at night or even during the day, do you ever check your tires?   The truth is that most of us neglect our tires until it’s too late and we’re stuck with a flat tire somewhere in the middle of the road.  But this can all (usually) be prevented by playing a P.A.R.T. in tire safety.  This simply means making sure that you check your tire Pressure, Alignment, Rotation and Tread on a regular basis.  For example, riding around on tires that aren’t filled up to where they should be is just as dangerous as riding around on tires that are over-inflated.  Both of these things may have devastating consequences, especially if you are unaware of them and are travelling on a highway where the speed limit is 70mph.  Could you imagine what would happen if you were to have a tire blowout at that speed?  I shudder to think.  Make sure you have your tires rotated and balanced (aligned) on a regular basis.  If you don’t know how often this should be done, simply ask your mechanic or look inside the manual for your vehicle.  It should list it in there.  Lastly, check the treadware on your tires.  If your tires have no tread left, then consider yourself lucky to be alive.  Tread is what makes the tires grip to the roadway.  If your tires have no tread left, then you would notice it as soon as it rained or even when you went to stop, because you wouldn’t stop right away.
