As Long As You’re Not Cheating, The IRS Isn’t That Bad

Are you scared of being audited by the IRS

Well, as long as you’re diligent about keeping up to date and accurate records, if that time ever comes, you won’t have too much to worry about.  If a mistake was made you’re not going to get thrown in jail unless you were deliberately trying to defraud the United States government.

If it is shown that you made a mistake, then in most cases you’ll simply need to pay the tax on the incorrect amount and the associated penalty.

If you are cheating on your taxes, then you are going to have a much bigger problem when the IRS gets around to auditing you.  And don’t think that because it has been a year or two since you cheated, that you got away with it.  The IRS can audit returns several years back.
