5 Things You Should Know About Heartburn Diet and Heartburn

Heartburn information isn’t always reliable when you search on the web, as too many people are trying to sell you something instead of actual providing useful resources you can use.

Below are 5 tips about Heartburn and Heartburn Diet that I hope you find helpful.

We’ve spent ages looking for the most accurate heartburn information to give you, and this is what we’ve got…

Tip #1

Try avoiding the chocolate, cola drinks, peppermints, and alcohol as they tend to irritate the lower sphincter and cause acid reflux.  Fatty foods and smoking can also cause the problem, which can humorously be alleviated at times by chewing gum.  Since the gum creates more saliva to offset the acid in the esophagus you are effectively battling the acid that is trying to travel back up your system.

Tip #2

Many have felt the complication of liquid entering the lungs, commonly referred to as aspiration.  If you have aspiration it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are suffering from GERD, but if you have GERD it is probable that you suffer from aspiration.  Aspiration pneumonia can be a serious condition that will require the immediate care and treatment of a doctor.  If it isn’t aspiration pneumonia then it could result in an eventual scarring of the throat, or fibrosis, that damages the lungs.  Aspiration generally occurs at night when acid reflux is at its worst without the assistance of gravity.

Tip #3

It is worth cutting back on tomato based foods like chilli, pasta and pizza sauces with tomatoes in it as tomatoes are known to cause an increase in stomach acids, which in turn can trigger heartburn and GERD symptoms.

Tip #4

It is not confirmed that chiropractic manipulations will help with acid reflux.  In fact, some doctors don’t recommend chiropractic treatments for acid reflux at all.  However, some patients claim that these types of manipulations help them greatly with their acid reflux symptoms.  So, if you are interested in alternative therapies for your acid reflux, you can certainly give chiropractic manipulation a try and see if it helps you.

Tip #5

The most common type of acid reflux surgery is that of fundoplication or anti-reflux surgery to reroute or restructure the stomach in hope of overcoming the disease.  The doctor will start by making a small incision in the abdomen or some may choose to use a less invasive procedure called laparoscopy, a technique that uses several small punctured holes to view the stomach with small viewing devices.  The doctor will then goes in and perform a procedure that could make a massive difference in a person’s life.

That’s it for the tips, I hope that you liked them.
