A University Administrator Listens to the Needs of the Local Community

Perhaps it was a sign of the times, but during the past six months the local state university had a four hundred percent increase in inquiries about classes dealing with alcohol abuse and domestic violence. When there is that much interest in something, the university board takes notice and tries to accommodate the request.  Fortunately, the Chancellor of the University was a forward-thinking person who also prided herself on initiating proactive problem solving methods so getting such a course off the ground was not a terribly difficult task.  The good news is that the classes on alcohol abuse and domestic violence proved to be so popular that within three years, an alcohol abuse and domestic violence major was developed.  This is a good example of a responsive university administrator who listened to what the people in the community were asking for.
