The tax laws are important and anyone offering tax filing help should be up to date with the tax laws. The IRS often has press releases to tell the world about the changes in any tax laws.
There are many tax prepares that do not keep up to date with the tax laws and all they seem to do is enter the information that the taxpayers give them into the computer and the tax software will do all the rest.
However, if they do not know the tax laws then they are not going to be able to answer any questions taxpayers have about their tax filing situations.
